  Radiant Heat

Radiant heating systems in one form or another have been used throughout time. The availability of absolutely safe tubing material from Viega, electronically crosslinked polyethylene (Pextron tubing) and reliable control systems, has made radiant heat a desirable and viable heating solution.

For over 20 years Viega, formerly Stadler-Viega, has manufactured systems that provide the unparalled comfort of radiant heat. In brief, a radiant heating installation turns your floors into big and gentle radiators. Pextron tubing is evenly installed throughout the floor. Warm water is circulated through the tubing, heating the floor, objects in contact with the floor and you as well.

Viega Concrete System

  • Radiant heating in residential concrete slabs is primarily used in slab-on-grade construction, basements, garages and pool surrounds.
  • Viega Pextron tubing is installed on top of foam board or fastened to wire mesh and covered by the concrete pour.
  • This is one of the lowest cost radiant installation methods, and should be considered whenever new concrete slabs are being poured.

Viega Thin-Slab System

  • Thin-Slab installation is used in both retrofit and new construction, over a plywood subfloor or to retrofit over an existing slab.
  • The Viega Thin-Slab System provides efficient and even heat transfer and has its advantages when installing certain finish floors such as stone, marble or tile. This method is not practical for hardwood flooring.

Viega Climate Trak System

  • Climate Trak offers the fastest and easiest way to install radiant heating in retrofit applications.
  • The patented shape firmly grips the Viega Pextron tubing, preventing air gaps or loss of direct contact between the tubing and the snap channel, insuring excellent heat exchange. The heavy gauge, rigid aluminum extrusion is highly conductive for optimal heat transfer.
  • Climate Trak plates fit under the floor, between floor joists to securely grip Viega Pextron tubing, without the need for messy glues and sealants. Tubing can be quickly snapped into place. Sections are 8 feet long for faster installation and may be shortened to fit joist space.
